Folgate launches Business of Sport Practice

With no rights to sell, media to buy or campaigns to deliver, advice from the practice starts with each organisation’s own needs, objectives and definition of value.

Today’s a day we’ve been working toward for a few months now: the launch of Business of Sport, a new practice helping organisations make confident decisions and realise the full value of sport. It’s a collaboration featuring Jeremy Clark, Dave Scott, Josie Stevens and Peter Thomas.

With no rights to sell, media to buy or campaigns to deliver, advice from the practice starts with each organisation’s own needs, objectives and definition of value.

Sport is one of the world’s most powerful commercial and reputational platforms, capable of accelerating growth, strengthening brands, engaging audiences and building stakeholder confidence. But realising its full value is increasingly complex: decisions about investment, partnerships, governance, communications and performance carry significant commercial, brand, reputational and organisational implications.

Why now?

Becuase important decisions involving sport rarely have consequences in only one area. With no predetermined solution to promote, we can bring together the senior perspectives needed to challenge assumptions, identify value organisations may not yet have considered and translate the right decisions into delivery.

Collectively, Clark, Scott, Stevens, and bring decades of senior commercial, communications and advisory experience spanning commercial strategy and partnerships, brand and consumer communications, corporate reputation, stakeholder engagement and organisational performance. Their work has encompassed international markets, global brands, rights holders and major sporting properties.

Clients will work directly with the principals, who will take an evidence-led approach, bringing together the right combination of expertise across strategic advisory and insight; commercial strategy and partnerships; communications, reputation and stakeholder confidence; and performance and value optimisation.

The practice will advise brands, rights holders, investors, agencies, governments and institutions, and talent throughout the lifecycle of their involvement in sport — from defining opportunities and shaping strategy to strengthening performance, managing change and realising long-term value.
