Hello David Kean and Tim Sutton

Two new faces popped up in the Folgate roster of expert advisors this week: David Kean and Tim Sutton, both based in the UK and we’re eager to introduce them both if you don’t know them already.

David Kean

David Kean from Catalyst is a specialist in delivering high stakes outcomes – pitch wins, sales conversations, negotiations, GTM strategies, boardroom influence – in person to person communication.

He is co-founder of The Trouble Room, lectures on persuasion at the London Business School and at Imperial College and is the author of seven best-selling business books – two of which were finalists in the Business Book of the year Awards 2023 and 2026.

He was described by BusinessLife.com as ‘the best pitch coach around’ and focuses on that as well as:

  • Go-to-market strategy for ambitious businesses

  • Influencing high-stakes conversations

  • Sales and business development

Tim Sutton

Tim Sutton advises boards when reputation is at stake and PR agency owners and acquirers on the sale and integration of their businesses. He is currently advising two agency founders on the sale of their businesses and one acquirer on what to buy, one side only on any deal.

Beyond the deals he is spending a good deal of time on AI: how agencies and their clients can put it to good use and what it is already doing to reputations.

He spent seventeen years at Weber Shandwick, finishing as Chairman for EMEA and Asia Pacific, a business of around $200 million and 1,500 people in 25 markets. Earlier he was one of the partners who bought into Charles Barker and later sold it.

He writes The Sutton Memo on Substack, on reputation and on the business of agencies.
